LAGOON SLUDGE SURVEYS
Epsom Environmental Services perform sludge surveys Australia wide, including Victoria, NSW, SA, Tasmania, NT and Queensland. Sludge surveys are often acquired to determine the sludge or sediment quantity in lagoon, such as wastewater treatment lagoons, water treatment lagoons or tradewaste lagoons.
Why are sludge surveys important?
It is important to determine when excessive sludge accumulation occurs as it can impact the treatment efficiency of a lagoon and result in range of environmental impacts. For example, odour and the contamination to waterways.
Sludge surveys can be valuable when planning a desludging project for a number of reasons. This includes:
- Helping to determine the budget for a desludging project
- Assisting contractors with the quoting / tending process
- Providing a secondary means to check to the quantity desludged
What information does a sludge survey provide?
Information obtained during a sludge survey is provided in a detailed report, which includes:
- Sludge and lagoon volume
- Tonnes of dry solids
- Results of laboratory analysis
- Recommendations or observations
- Plans and cross sections displaying sludge level and distribution
