Desludging

Epsom Environmental Services specialise in desludging wastewater treatment lagoons and ponds. We also have the expertise to desludge digesters, tailing dams and contained waterways.

Every desludging project is unique and requires a specialised approach to ensure cost efficient, timely and safe project delivery. When determining the methodology used for desludging we take into consideration a number of factors. Some of these include:

• Lagoon / pond size
• Area available onsite
• Accessibility
• Time available for desludging
• Weather conditions
• Proximity to sensitive sites
• Safety / environmental concerns

Depending on the selected methodology, desludging can include the use of dredges, pontoon mixers and excavators for sludge extraction. Sludge can then be centrifuge dewatered and/or air dried to reduce the volume of sludge and thus, reduce the amount for transport and reuse/disposal.
